Narin Oz: Inner Child(ish) - On The Mic

Narin Oz: Inner Child(ish) ★★★★

This Review is from August 2025

I am an unashamed Narin Oz fan. I have been for years. The star of Channel Four’s Girls Go Trolling has the funny bones of some of the best to have ever done it.

Inner Child(ish) is apparently very loosely based on the Tom Hanks film Castaway, a movie I haven’t seen. Honestly, I don’t think it’s necessary. I imagine that the big budget, big screen version of this story has props that are not half as good.

Learning to live with neurodiversity in a world of neurotypicals, the castaway explains that they are not very good at real life, so survives by avoiding reality altogether. This is a relaxed performance in a large space, and will suit those who are neurodiverse as well as neurotypicals.

Narin has the imagination of a free child. It’s a real treat to visit their world for a little while. I didn’t want to leave.

A version of this review appears on Episode 2 of the On the Mic: Five a Day podcast.
