It’s a baking hot evening and we’re in a small, baking hot room. The lack of air isn’t acknowledged. Throughout this hour there is minimal audience interaction, the comedian has a lot to get through. and a result, as an audience, he gets very little back. It’s as if we don’t want to interrupt his flow by laughing too much.

There just isn’t time.

Robin Grainger has all the tools, all the material. He just needs to slow down. Vary the pace, change down from fifth gear occasionally. Let some air in. Give it time.
