Thor Stenhaug was conceived on a one-night stand, thus the title of the show, One Night Stand Baby.
The comedian recounts his experiences as a Swedish comedian living in the UK. Cultural differences, British vagueness and Norwegian directness. There’s a very funny bit about moving into a cramped London flat share, shopping for bedding and not knowing the word for ‘duvet’.
The young, handsome comedian reflects on his relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Daisy, her wealthy family, and their eventual amical breakup. He explains that he loves dating and is enjoying his best life. He is happy.
Much has been said about the rule of tragedy, plus time, equalling comedy. Thor Stenhaug somehow proves that happy can be funny too. Uplifting stuff. The spontaneous standing ovation was deserved.
