Sarah Roberts delivers a stand-up set, Scary Movie 7, blending horror, absurdism and observational story telling.

While still in the womb, Sarah ate her twin sister. The performer can not be blamed or held accountable for events that took place before she was born, but she is entitled to mine the incident for dark comedy. And the darker the comedian gets, the funnier the jokes become.

Now single and in her thirties, this modern world has left Sarah feeling a little lonely. Here we wander on to more mainstream territory for comedy. Have we forgotten how to communicate with each other properly? Has social media caused us to forgo real intimacy? Are we too busy staring at screens to connect with live art? The young women at the back of the room, caught talking to her phone’s AI during the show, perhaps provided the answer.

The comedian seemed a little off tonight. It was probably a smaller crowd than she is used to, we were not a great audience to be fair… and the ChatGPT girl probably didn’t help. But I still enjoyed the show that we got.
