This is a theatrical, comedic, circus show based on a true story.

It is 1964 and Zambia is gaining its independence from the British, meanwhile the USSR and USA are locked in a space race.  Much to the embarrassment of his fellow countrymen, Zambian Edward Mukuka Nkoloso, declares that his new country should mark its independence by beating both superpowers to the moon.

Readers of On the Mic are here for the comedy reviews. We love live comedy. I’m not necessarily a fan of circus or narrative theatre. But I saw an excerpt from Afronauts in a preview and I had to see the whole show.

The circus skills on show from this multi-talented cast are breath taking. The story is quick witted and smart.

Afronauts is funny, fast moving and has a huge heart. A world class production.
