Internationally renowned, Gaulier trained clown, actor and writer, Lil Wenker, is known for her debut one person Fringe show, Bangtail. The show sold out in five countries and won a stack of awards. This is the follow up.

We are presented with a genre bending contemporary fast passed buffoon, theatre, tragedy, comedy show. The performer mixes clown, improv, dance, stand up and character comedy. Also, she sings and raps. One wonders if there’s anything she can’t do.

A dark, sometimes very dark, tale of greed, privilege and murder, Boyking is the graphic and hilarious depiction of happens when you place too much power in the hands of and eight-year-old child. A young prince who wants to be king.

Amidst the chaos, I did briefly fail to follow the plot a couple of times. A few script tweaks here and there will help. I saw the show in an early preview and honing and perfecting work is exactly what this Fringe is for. This near capacity audience were too busy laughing to worry about such quibbles. Indeed, the laughter was relentless.

Somebody one said that the only way to do great work is to love what you do. Lil Wenker clearly really loves what she does. She is a generational talent. This show is going to be massive.
