Spraywatch: A Beautiful Rescue - On The Mic

Spraywatch: A Beautiful Rescue ★★★★

This Review is from August 2026

If you’re looking for something silly, camp and very funny at the Fringe, Spraywatch: A Beautiful Rescue is a pretty safe bet.

The plot is exactly as stupid as you’d want it to be. A hot lifeguard gets fired for having some cellulite and decides to turn around a struggling beach in Scotland. It’s completely ridiculous, but thankfully the show knows exactly what it is and fully commits to the nonsense.

The performances are where this show shines most. Everyone in the cast is stellar and, most importantly, completely truthful in what they’re doing. That’s the key to a good spoof — nobody plays it like a joke, which somehow makes the ridiculousness even funnier.

The songs are witty, the laughs are frequent and there are plenty of moments that had me properly laughing. A particular shout out to my favourite, the Jessica Fletcher song, which is the kind of wonderfully bizarre Fringe comedy I’m always here for.

Spraywatch is silly, fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you like your musical comedy a little bit ridiculous, this is definitely worth checking out.
