The experienced Scottish stand up presents his new show, Gareth Mutch Means Well.
There is so much to enjoy here, with some great ‘fish out of water’ set pieces.
The comedian frequently talks about his Welsh father during shows. Tonight, his dads obsession with Money Savings Expert, Martin Lewis, is well mined. There’s lots of good Giffgaff material here, which leads to some tremendous audience interaction. His father is a well rounded and very funny character, and I wanted to hear more about their relationship.
There is no coherent story arc or narrative. Nothing for the audience to hold on to. The show feels more like a couple of headline club sets pasted together with some great crowd work. Like an action movie without a plot. It’s great, but it’s hard to care.
Gareth is a likable, very funny storyteller. I want to know his story.
