Jamie MacDonald discusses societal perceptions of men and disability. Men, he claims, were once perceived as powerful figures. Now they are “toxic bastards.”
He reflects on his own experience of going blind, noting that he is now called, probably erroneously, a role model. MacDonald critiques the progress in accessibility, citing examples from air travel to customer service. All funny stuff.
Jamie is a great comedian with something to say and the problem with this show isn’t his fault. There is some dreadful sound bleed coming from the show next door, enough for the comedian to have to address it several times. It’s so distracting that it kills the vibe. You expect this in a free fringe venue or a tent, but this is a brilliant TV comedian at one of the Big Four venues. He and his audience, paying up to £15 a ticket, deserve a lot better.
