Lachlan Werner: WonderTwunk - On The Mic

Lachlan Werner: WonderTwunk ★★★★★

This Review is from August 2025

Following his sell-out cult-hit horror-comedy debut, Voices Of Evil, Lachlan Werner returns to the Edinburgh Fringe. This time he’s armed with super-human strength, a sea-lion, a macabre ringmaster and enough voices to fill a big top. So step right up, if you dare to witness a solo sideshow SO strong, it’s dangerous in the dark and joyful, genre-bending spectacular: WonderTwunk.

Twunk (colloquial): head of a twink, body of a hunk.

Jack Hammer, the world’s strongest boy, grows up isolated in the circus, to protect others from his power. As he performs incredible feats, Jack starts to reveal the circus’s secrets and the true price of his abilities.

WonderTwunk is a comedic, puppet-filled vaudeville show blending clowning, sci-fi, and queer themes with impressive ventriloquism and physical comedy.

It’s a brilliant piece of work and a really really good time.
