Sharon Wanjohi: In the House - On The Mic

Sharon Wanjohi: In the House ★★★★

This Review is from August 2025

Sharon Wanjohi opens her show, In the House, by hawking her self-help book. Apparently, there’s not fixed cost to buying the tome, “It’s dynamic pricing. For you Gareth, £5.99. For your lovely wife, a lap dance.”

The charismatic comedian reflects on personal growth, loss, and the impact of grief, drawing inspiration from her late friend Peter. But this is not a sad show, even when it occasionally pretends to be. Her actor’s tears, convincing at first, give way to punchlines.

Societal pressures, financial struggles, and the search for identity. Not uncommon subjects for an Edinburgh stand-up comedy show. But Sharon’s takes are original and hilarious.

An uplifting and very funny show about resilience and self-acceptance.
