Dr Jo Prendergast

Jo is a New Zealand based comedian, improviser, and actor. By day she also works as psychiatrist, author, and film producer. Jo is often tired.

She started stand up comedy in 2017 at the age of 48. She was nominated for Breakthrough Comedian at the NZ Comedy Guild Awards in 2020. She was long listed for the prestigious Billy T Award in September 2023.

Jo’s teenage mental health book for parents When Life Sucks (Harper Collins) was published in the UK in June 2024.

Screen appearances include the feature film, The Stolen (2017 dir. Niall Johnson) and the TV series, Adam and Eve Show (TVNZ).
