Tell me about your 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe show, Voicemail.

Voicemail is a show fundamentally about life-changing events and specifically the most life-changing event of all: death. The show is telling a very personal story about my own life and setting it in the context of a broader discussion about what kind of future someone of my generation can have. The show is addressing that through the lens of the answering machine and also MILFs.

You discuss a lot of personal issues on stage. How easy/difficult is that?

I find being on stage a good place to work out my own wrinkles, it’s very therapeutic being able to joke about things in that slightly depersonalised way. Obviously, some of the things in the show are harder to talk about than others but that gives the show its light and shade I think.

What is Trashfuture?

It’s a political comedy podcast I started with some friends about 5 years ago – we talk about UK and US politics but also a lot about start-ups, tech and the private sector.

Tell me about the comedy night in Farringdon, Smoke

I started Smoke back in 2018 as a way of doing more new material and showcasing some of my favourite comics but over time I’ve ended up running the nights less frequently as they’re a huge amount of admin and I’m much busier these days! That said, they’re great fun when they do happen.

What’s the one joke in your show Voicemail that isn’t really a joke?

That if his fellow conspirators didn’t pay to have Epstein murdered we can only assume that they’re very stingy indeed.
