Luca Cupani - On The Mic

Luca Cupani writes: “It’s me! is my fourth solo show, in which I look for an answer to a crucial question: who am I?” We fired over a Q&A to get more info.

Hi Luca, Who are you?

Well… in order to answer this key question, I use science, religion and astrology. And I also confess a (not so) secret ambition for papacy…

What does Edinburgh mean to you?

It means that for a month I enjoy a full immersion in an artistic, crazy and beautiful environment, I love it!

Who inspires you and why?

I’m inspired by many people, especially older people that keep dreaming.

Describe your best or worst experiences on stage.

My worst experience was the “world premiere” of my solo show at the Fringe in 2015: nobody came and I had to pull the show…

Describe your best or worst review.

My best review was last year, when Kate Copstick mentioned my “charismatic, albeit self-effacing presence” and my “engaging storytelling skills”. I hope she is right…

If you weren’t a performer, what would you be?

The next Pope…

What was the last book you read?

Conclave by Robert Harris

Are you happy?

Yes, thanks for asking!

Imagine that the BBC have asked you to produce a primetime show. What would it be and who else would be involved?

It would be a documentary about the weird audience of the open mic circuit in London, but I admit it might not be a huge success…
