Please tell me about your 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe show.

The Oxford Imps have exploded back onto the comedy scene after the Covid hiatus, and we’re back at the Fringe having performed here for over 15 years previously. Our show this year is our signature blend of short and long games, including improvised raps, musicals, one-liners, mime, Shakespeare, and loads more! It’s sure to be a rollick!

What is the attraction of performing at the Edinburgh Fringe?

It’s the world’s biggest arts festival baby! But importantly, we get to meet improvisers from all over the country (and abroad) which in our various towns and cities we don’t get to do often. We also can’t wait to share our love for improv with the hundreds and hundreds of people who come and see our shows each year. WE LOVE EDINBURGH!

Who inspires you?

Recently we had the amazing opportunity to rekindle our lasting exchange with Parnassos improv comedy group in Utrecht, the Netherlands, where some of our Imps performed in their shows and learnt a bunch of new tips, tricks and games. We find inspiration in our own trips to improv shows and workshops, and we even have the privilege of some of our alumn-Imps often coming back to give workshops of their own!

Are there other shows you want to check out during the Fringe?

We’ll definitely be checking out our very own Imps and alumn-Imps at the Fringe, including The Show That Must Not Be Named, Sophie Duker: Hag, Tom Skelton: 2020 Visions, Impromptu Shakespeare, Austentatious…

Finally, ask and answer a question of your own.

What do you do for the rest of the year, Imps?

We’re kept on our improv toes doing our regular gigs every Monday night in Oxford, as well as performing at balls, corporate and charity gigs, running workshops, going to other festivals and hopefully going on tour soon! (Follow all our social medias to stay updated wink wink).
