Please tell me about your 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe show.

Your Aunt Fanny are an all-womxn theatre company from the North East of England. Muff Said is our latest offering, a comedy sketch show that vividly captures a night out on the town with your wildest, oldest, filthiest friend. We will pull your leg then pat you on the back just like any trusty friendship group would. Your Aunt Fanny celebrate all things fabulous, ridiculous and thoroughly inappropriate using their satirical, uniquely clever voice.

What is the attraction of performing at the Edinburgh Fringe? What do you think of Edinburgh?

We are taking our show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022 because we want to reach as wide an audience as possible. We have established a loyal audience in the North East; with 3 projects under our belt we are now ready to announce ourselves to an international audience. We love Edinburgh all year round but particularly during the Fringe – anywhere you can get a crepe at 4am is a friend of ours.

Who inspires you?

We love a good BBC comedy for their outrageous, sympathetic, fully-formed characters: Gavin and Stacey, League of Gentlemen, This Country, Absolutely Fabulous, Kath & Kim (last one was just broadcast by the BBC but still counts).

Are there other shows you want to check out during the Fringe? What are they?

Our fellow Newcastle pals – Fat Chance, Rowan McCabe, Lauren Pattison, Girl Next Door. We always love everything Paines Plough produce at their Roundabout. We also saw Leo Reich in Newcastle last month and we’re obsessed with him so can’t wait to see his show (on our days off cos we have a similar time slot)

Finally, ask and answer a question of your own.

Should people run a mile from ‘sketch comedy’?

Potentially. But definitely not from ours.
